The St. Helena Star reported this week on the next chapter for our shelter. We Care Animal Rescue is becoming the Jackson Galaxy Project, a new home base for cat welfare led by Jackson Galaxy, who now chairs our board.

We’re still the same nonprofit with the same tax ID, the same address on Charter Oak Avenue, and the same cats in our care. Every donation continues to support the animals at the shelter.

“I began my career working with cats in animal shelters over three decades ago, so this feels like coming back to my roots,” Jackson told the Star. “The Jackson Galaxy Project will be a place where all cats, whether they are in homes, in shelters or in our communities, can be spoken for.”

Kristen Hassen is our new executive director, and we’ve expanded our hours: walk-in adoptions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and same-day appointments from 3 to 5 p.m.
