Legacy Giving

A Legacy of Compassion

Through Legacy Giving, you can make a difference in the lives of animals and secure a better future for pets in need. By including We Care Animal Rescue in your estate plans, you will ensure a lasting legacy of kindness and compassionate care for homeless animals.

Founded in 1982, We Care Animal Rescue is an independent non-profit entirely funded by the generosity of individuals and community organizations. Over the decades, we have received sustaining support from families throughout Napa Valley. Legacy gifts have played a significant role in allowing us to care for thousands of pets in our community.

Bequest by Will or Living Trust

Planning a gift through your will or trust allows you to make a lasting difference in the lives of animals beyond your lifetime.

Remembering We Care Animal Rescue in your will is a wonderful way to express your love and concern for homeless pets in Napa Valley.

For many friends of We Care Animal Rescue, a charitable bequest is the easiest and best way to designate our sanctuary as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, or of particular assets in your estate.

This language has been drafted to support your estate planning in collaboration with an attorney or financial advisor.

Retirement Plans and Life Insurance

You can name We Care Animal Rescue as the primary or secondary beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance policy or unused retirement plan assets.

Making a charitable gift through a life insurance policy is easy and should not cost you any legal fees. Simply request a change of beneficiary form from your administrator.

Naming We Care Animal Rescue as the beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan asset (401(k), 403(b), IRA) or profit sharing pension plan will accomplish a charitable goal while realizing significant tax savings. It can be costly to pass such assets on to heirs due to heavy tax consequences. By naming us as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, the donor maintains complete control over the asset while living. At the donor’s death, the plan passes to support We Care Animal Rescue free of both estate and income taxes.

Planning For Your Pet

If you don’t have a friend or family member to care for your pet, consider our Safeguard Program. This program ensures compassionate, lifelong care for your pets if they should outlive you.

As you prepare your estate plans, you may be concerned about who will provide a loving home to your pets once unable to care for them.

If you choose We Care Animal Rescue as the future guardian of your pets, we will work with you to learn about your pets. Should it become necessary, we can care for them and identify the best possible human companions to fit their needs.

To enroll in the Safeguard Program, please complete a Pet Profile for each pet and return it to our team. We will schedule a time to meet with you to learn as much as we can about your pet’s unique needs and what makes them feel safe and loved.

Charitable Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities and More

There are many estate planning options that provide income and tax benefits to you during your lifetime.

We would be happy to work with you and your legal and financial advisors to explore these options.
