Community Support

We know caring for your companion animal can come with challenges. That’s why we’d love to help support you by offering the following community resources and more:

Pet Food Pantry

We know caring for your pet can be costly. Our pet food pantry is a great resource for families in need of pet food and supplies and caretakers of feral cat communities in Napa Valley.

Our pantry is primarily stocked by donations, which means we can’t guarantee specific brands. However, we’ll do our best to match our inventory with your needs. Contact us to confirm availability and to arrange for your pick up.

Veterinary Support

Vaccinations and Microchips

Did you know that Napa Humane provides vaccinations and microchipping for dogs and cats at a reduced cost? These services are available at the time of spay/neuter surgery, regardless of residency.

Napa Humane also offers vaccination and microchipping services by appointment to Napa County residents. Proof of residency is required.

Spay and Neuter Assistance

Napa Humane also offers reduced fees for spay/neuter services to qualifying pet owners in Napa, Lake and Solano Counties. Visit their website to learn more about their income-eligible program.

We Care Animal Rescue provide vouchers for eligible families for spay/neuter surgeries. Contact us to see if you qualify for spay/neuter assistance.

Charitable Grants for Emergency Care

Needing assistance with veterinary care? We may be able to provide a grant to help cover your pet’s medical costs. At this time, our Charitable Grants program is available for spayed/neutered pets requiring emergency care only.

We will request proof that you have applied for CareCredit, if that option is available at your clinic. First, contact us to learn if you qualify for charitable grants.

Moving and Relocating Tips

Planning a Move?

We understand moving is stressful, especially when a pet is added into the mix. While moving as a pet owner can be difficult, it’s not impossible.

Just because you are relocating, doesn’t mean you need to give up your pet. We hope the following relocation tips help you through any potential conflicts that arise throughout your move.

  • Search pet-friendly listings

As you’re researching for your next residence, set your filters to “animal-friendly” or “pets allowed”. Don’t forget to also research pet-friendly realtors using online classified ads.

  • Talk with landlords

Give yourself extra time to find a residence where pets are permitted. When talking to landlords, be honest and offer to introduce your pets to them. Many property owners will allow well-behaved pets, particularly if the owner is responsible.

  • Provide veterinary records

Providing your pets’ up-to-date veterinary records and references from past landlords can help show a prospective landlord that you are a responsible pet owner.

Feral Cat Care

Caring for a Feral Cat?

If you have feral (unsocial) cats in your neighborhood, visit the Forgotten Felines’ website for more information on feral cat care and trap-neuter-return (TNR) best practices. Forgotten Felines can answer all of your questions about TNR and spay/neuter, and can provide you with additional literature regarding trapping, caretaking, and protocols for using their services. On a limited basis, We Care can loan traps. Contact us for more information.
