Jennifer Steinmetz

Animal Care Specialist Lead

Jennifer Steinmetz grew up in a home always filled with at least a few pets, more than her parents probably wanted to allow: rats, rabbits, fish, dogs, and horses. Her deep passion for animals led her to continue to study Zoology in college until she received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2014.

Back then, she knew she wanted to work with animals but never knew where her career would take her. After she graduated, she took a job at the local animal shelter where she had volunteered as a child as a cleaning attendant. In this position, she fostered the joy she has for caring for animals. She worked a lot with cats, rabbits, and neonatal kittens in a 24-hour kitten nursery.

After working at the local animal shelter, she found another job in 2017 and took a leap of faith and moved to Napa to work for the Napa County animal shelter in the picturesque Wine Country. She has now been in Napa for a number of years and has had many great opportunities to learn and work to improve the lives of animals in her community. In October 2022, she was very excited to join We Care Animal Rescue as the Animal Care Specialist Lead. Her experience, positive attitude, and hard work brings immense joy to our small but mighty team.
