Black Bear

At 20 years old, Black Bear is We Care’s oldest resident but this boy is full of life and loving his golden years. Unlike his namesake, Black Bear is more chirp than growl. He is full of personality and makes everyone at the shelter laugh every single day – he’s known for his appreciation of belly rubs, is crazy about treats, and his favorite place to be is in a lap. Black Bear is great with people and animals alike, and he will always let you know how much he loves you. Bonus: he knows how to walk on a leash for those who love adventures.

Black Bear is diabetic and requires daily insulin injections. He also has hyperthyroidism but the symptoms are well controlled through daily low-cost medications that he eats with his meals. Black Bear is a very good boy when it comes to getting his medical care and our staff is more than willing to show you how to properly administer them (we promise it’s easy-peasy!).
